Description

This is a scarce early rockabilly single by Hardrock Gunter issued by Sun Records (Sun 201) in 1954: Gonna Dance All Night b/w Fallen Angel. The label has three pushmarks (small round indentations) indicative of an early Sun pressing. Seems to be more common as a 78 - of the 20 past sales (going back to 2004) listed on popsike 14 are 78s.
In VG- condition with various scratches. Plays through with a persistent hiss and the occasional tick. But apparently early Sun records play with a hiss even if clean, depending on the type of needle used, so your results may be better if you have the right equipment. This is what AI has to say about it:
Sun Records' early 45 RPM records often have a distinct "Sun hiss" because they were pressed with a wider groove meant for older 78 RPM styluses, resulting in a loud hiss when played on modern, narrower LP needles; this characteristic sound comes from the groove width, poor vinyl quality, and DJ wear (cue burn), creating a noticeable background noise even on clean copies. While some hiss is inherent, it's amplified by playing these older discs on modern equipment not designed for their unique groove dimensions.
