Harlem Strut by James P Johnson on Rare 1921 Black Swan Label 78 rpm Record
Offered here are rare early jazz works by both James P Johnson and Fletcher Henderson on the rare Black Swan label. Features "THE HARLEM STRUT", one of James P Johnson's earliest jazz piano recordings. The flip side features "THE UNKNOWN BLUES", written and performed by a young Fletcher Henderson.
These recordings were reissued on the Paramount label (catalog 12144) in 1924, after Black Swan had closed.
The record is in VG condition, plays very well on both sides. The record surface retains much of the original luster, with some lights scuffs. There are no cracks or chips. See photos for details. I do not have an original sleeve.
