A copy of Harry Chapin’s “Greatest Stories Live.” Fine album, but not rare. However, there are some extenuating circumstances. First off, it is autographed--clearly, dramatically, in the lower left. (The ballpoint pen autograph so indents the cover that you can feel it by rubbing your fingers over it.) Then, stuck inside the album, I found 3 newspaper stores on Chapin that I have left for the album’s buyer: the pages of the Champaign-Urbana Weekly, a University of Illinois free newspaper, for July 24, 1981--headlining Chapin the week after he was tragically killed in that auto accident; a newspaper piece on Chapin at Champaign selling pizza for World Hunger on S. Wright St.; and a newspaper article (undated) that explains that for Chapin, Champaign-Urbana was his “favorite gig”--which to this day remains unexplained, as none of the people who knew Chapin seem to have understood his love for the community. He never lived in Champaign-Urbana nor attended the Univ. of IL. But he adopted the town and the town adopted him. He played in the town at least once a year for the last 10 years of his life. This all adds up to a whale of a treasure for the true Chapin fan. We've found many examples of autographed Chapin LPs that have sold for over $100 and are asking a bit more affordable price.
CONDITION of DISCS: VG++ (a few superficial swipes that are really just discolorations; no spindle tracks around label hole)
