It's an unusual England pressing of this heavy South African bands 1972 second album, 'Africa, she too can cry', although this Charisma Records edition renames Hawk to just 'Jo'Burg Hawk' for this self titled album. Hawk definitely had their own direction here; fantastic hard guitars, full throated vocals, and plenty of tribal drum patterns. Some background African vocals and a deep reverbed production add much to the flavour as well. Also, Julian Laxton, guitarist from fellow South African's, Freedom's Children joined Hawk for this album and his performance really shines through; such a good record here. Both gatefold cover and vinyl are both EX/EX. Center label, side A has a small name signed, as well as on the Charisma Records inner sleeve. Play test sounds awesome! After some successful tours of England and Europe in 1973, a US contract deal fell through and Hawk eventually returned to South Africa and faded away, although an even rarer live album, 'Live and well' surfaced a year later.
