Description
Here you have a Maltese Falcon - few and very far between. To find a 1st pressing Liberty blue label copy is a herculean feat of patience and luck in itself, but brace yourself : the vinyl of this copy is NEAR MINT and it plays absolutely MINT, with no clicks, pops, skips, crackles or jumps - nothing to get in the way of the exhiliarating music. Now that's what we call a find ! The production is by the band and Dick Taylor of Pretty Things fame.( First Dick Taylor was briefly with the Stones, but he then drastically upgraded to The Pretties - but I digress.) The production is brilliant with a lot of space and "äir" between the instruments, which gives you the feeling of being in time-warp. Yup, this music gets you in the zone and even without the aid of funny cigarettes ! The music is so creative and the production is so dynamic, without being cacophonic, that you just keep listening to the end- and NO surface noise AT ALL !!! Visually, under critical phosphorescent light, there are moderate paper scuffs, which are not, or hardly - to be on the safe side - visible in normal daylight. They do absolutely nothing to the sound. There is no spindle wear worth mentioning and there are some light spindle marks on both labels; otherwise the labels are MINT. If someone would describe the gatefold cover to me as EX, I would be satisfied, but to be conservative, I will grade it a VG++/ EX-. There is a small sticker abrasion on the top right left hand corner (see photo), moderate corner, spine and edge wear - but not through carelessness, as far as I can see. On the upper right hand corner of the right portion of the inside of the gatefold, there is a smudgy name: Barry, written and appr. 1/2 " wide (see photo).
