Records are graded visually in bright light with an experienced eye.
Vinyl grade: most sides are NM- and a few are EX.
One side has a long hairline scuff that looks bad but does not sound (I played it).
One side has a small indentation that produces nothing more than a few light crackles.
One side has two surface chips on the very outer edge -- this will not affect playback.
Outer box has light shelf wear and a small nick on one corner.
Box conditions: light rubbing with no splits or markings.
Grading scale:
(I will take a grade off for spindle marks. For instance, if the vinyl is EX but has more than a stray spindle mark or two, I will grade it as EX-.)
NM Opened but looks unplayed; no scuffs, scratches, or spindle marks.
NM- A light scuff or two.
EX A few light scuffs or non-sounding spotting.
EX- More light scuffs, a very light hairline or two.
VG+ Some scuffing, a few hairlines.
VG More scuffing, some lighter scratches.
VG- Heavy scuffing, several scratches.
