The title of this song, beloved to so many, has been chosen by Nathan and Jean Urshan as the theme of this, their newest record album This album is dedicated to the memory of Nathan s late father, the beloved Andrew David Urshan, who departed this life to be with the Lord on October 16 1967 To so many people, trials seem to embitter them, and cause them to turn, at times, from their deep confidence in God s ways. This could never be said of Andrew Urshan, and doubtless a most important contributing factor to the great blessing that this song has brought to so many, is that in hours of deepest heartache, rather than questioning God's wisdom, the Urshan children heard the strains of the new song, from their father's pen ‘‘There is sunshine in the shadows, there is sunshine in the rain. There is sunshine in our sorrow, when our hearts are filled with pain. There is sunshine when we're burdened, there is sunshine when we pray. There is sunshine, HEAVENLY SUNSHINE, blessed sunshine all the way." Through 55 years of successful and fruitful ministry, this song seemed to become Brother Andrew Urshans trademark Although in his long and useful lifetime he wrote many songs. "Sunshine In The Shadows" stands out to many and is no doubt his best known. For many months, requests have come from all over the United States for a new record by the Urshans. When they were making preparations for recording this album, many sug- gestions were made for the record title. It was late one even- ing during a visit with Rev. N. R. Paslay (a very close friend of the Urshans) that Brother Paslay suggested the title, "Sun- shine In The Shadows." It seemed to be exactly what they had been looking for. and indeed it was It is with the sincere desire that the spirit with which this title song was written, will be transmitted through every song that is sung on this record.
