(Hear) 1961 El Pauling and Royal Abbit Rocker (Please, Please Be Mine)

El Pauling, Royal Abbit the Royalton – “Please, Please Be Mine” b/w “Rain Drops Keep a Fallin’” (Federal 12398). Guitarist and vocalist Lowman Pauling is best known for his association with the group the 5 Royales for which he wrote many songs, including the classics, ”Dedicated to the One I Love” (later a hit for the Shirelles and The Mamas and the Papas) and “Think” (later a James Brown classic). After the group disbanded Pauling continued recording with pianist and frequent Royales collaborator Royal Abbitt as El Pauling and the Royalton. This early 1961 release by the duo features a great rocker on one side and an R&B / deep soul ballad on the flip – take a listen to a little of each. Record is in VG+ condition but has a name on each label and a stain where a sticker has been removed and writing on one label. Postage will be paid by purchaser.
