Description
Eschelons – “This Broken Heart” b/w “Lonely Christmas” (Set-Co 120). Great two-sided Doowop from 1961 by this Grand Rapids, Michigan based group. Both sides of the single were composed by member Ron Beatty and recorded at Ted Mader's studio in Downtown Grand Rapids, one of several recording studios in town. Dick and Ron Beatty’s stepfather financed the 45 which was released on the SET-CO label, an acronym for his business, the Stalter Edge Tool Company. The single was pressed at the American Record Pressing Company in Owosso, Michigan. The Eschelons hand-delivered their single to WLAV and WGRD in hopes of getting local airplay. Their approach worked, as "This Broken Heart" reached # 16 on WGRD's Fabulous "50" chart in January of 1962. Take a listen to a little of each side. Record is in M- condition.
