Rusty & Doug - Hey Mae b/w Diggy Liggy Lo (Hickory 1151) Great summer of 1961 two-sided classic 45 featuring a Cajun rockabilly on one side and another good up-temp Cajun cut on the flip. Rusty & Doug were a country music and Cajun music duo composed of Doug Kershaw and his younger brother, Rusty Kershaw. The two recorded for Hickory Records between 1955 and 1961, charting five times on the Hot Country Songs charts. They also performed on the Louisiana Hayride and Wheeling Jamboree. They became members of the Grand Ole Opry in the 1950s. The duo broke up in 1959 as both brothers entered the United States Army, but reunited between 1961 and 1963. The version of "Hey Mae" on this release is slightly different than on Hickory 1077, the first issue of the song and has a slightly different mix without the delay that you can hear on the Hickory 1077 version of the song, so it sounds clearer. Take a listen to each side. Record is in strong VG+ condition.
