(Hear) 1972 The Blobs (Mort Garson) Early Electronic Psych DJ 45 (Son of Blob)
The Blobs – “Son of Blob” b/w “Party pooper” (Verve 10675). Good late summer of 1972 is this music from the film “Son of Blob”. Mort Garson was a Canadian-born composer who was not only an innovator but went on to make some strange electronic compositions (and cover versions.) Originally finding work as a session musician and lyricist, working with artists like Julie London, Rod McKuen, Doris Day and The Lettermen, it was when he started to work with the still new instrument known as the Moog Synthesizer, The zenith of the music-for-media portion of his career was his work on the Larry Hagman-directed sequel to The Blob, called Son of Blob aka Beware! Take a listen. Record is a DJ copy in M- condition (has a “Star” on one label)
