Hear 1980 Bob Finnigan and Battle Royal Wrestling Movie Rock Soundtrack EP
Bob Finnigan and Battle Royal – “Songs From the Savage Cinema Corp Motion Picture ‘Ringside” (Spirit LS 8680.) This 7-inch 33-1/3 RPM EP features four cuts from the 1977 film, “Ringside.” Except, there was no such film in 1977, or 1980, and by the time it was released it was 1985 and the title had changed to “I Like to Hurt People.” According to producer Bryan Greenberg, “The original idea was to film a horror movie called Ringside in Hell. When the horror aspect was dropped, it would become ‘Ringside.’ Stories were built around real-life wrestling matches…When we realized we couldn’t film the wrestlers for days and weeks at a time, the idea went from a movie to more of a documentary.” Funding was lacking and the movie was put on the backburner. It was to Greenberg’s surprise when the movie was released on video and laserdisc in 1985 under the title “I Like To Hurt People.” Cuts on the EP include, “I Like to Hurt People”; “Dick the Bruiser Boogie”; “The American Dream”; and “Andre the Giant.” Listen to a couple cuts from the EP. No cover. Record is in M- condition.
