Description
Heart got into a battle with their record company, Mushroom, shortly after the phenomenal success of their debut LP, Dreamboat Annie.
Mushroom, claiming they had a legal right to release a second album, issued (an estimated) 50,000 copies of this version of Magazine in 1977. The jacket includes a disclaimer stating that Mushroom regrets that they had to release the LP with no involvement from the band due to a contractual dispute!
The band sued, and Mushroom had to recall and destroy most of the unsold copies. As part of the settlement, Heart was required to provide Mushroom with a second album. A reworked version of Magazine was eventually released in 1978. The new version went platinum in the US and Canada.
This is the original version, featuring the full 7 minute mix of Mother Earth Blues -- and a WAY better version of Devil Delight! Additionally, Heartless has different vocals, Just The Wine has a flute solo (instead of synthesizer), and Magazine fades about 30 seconds earlier.
