While most think of the late, great Ozzy Osbourne when it comes to Birmingham heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath, there's almost just as many devout Ronnie James Dio fans who will defend that era to their dying day. In the midst of the band's tumultuous line-up shifts throughout the 80s/90s, only two albums released over a decade apart would boast the alchemic stable of founding guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and ex-Sabbath luminaries Dio on vocals and Vinny Appice on drums - 1981's Mob Rules and 1992's Dehumanizer. Initially reuniting in 2007 as Heaven & Hell (deriving their name from the first Sabbath record to feature Dio on vocals) the group would usher in this reunion with their triumphant 2007 New York performance, Live From Radio City Music Hall, before finally unveiling their sole studio effort The Devil You Know in 2009. This hefty 7xLP box set collates the complete Live From Radio City Music Hall performance, with eight tracks making their vinyl debut, including studio recordings from The Dio Years as well as select live cuts, The Devil You Know full-length, and the live album Neon Nights: 30 Years Of Heaven & Hell - Live At Wacken, taken from their career-spanning legacy set at Germany's iconic metal fest in 2009. Breaking Out Of Heaven serves as a monolithic celebration of a very specific, niche yet adored era from the metallic giants.
