This beautiful LP – a superb collector’s copy – from RCA (LM-9014, US pressing, shaded dog label, 4S/9S stampers, mono) features violinist Jascha Heifetz in wondefully charismatic performances of music by Mozart and Beethoven, the Heifetz magic everywhere in evidence.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major K. 219 “Turkish”
> with conductor Sir Malcolm Sargent and London Symphony Orchestra
(rec. at EMI Studio No. 1, Abbey Road, London, on 19 May 1951)
Some have accused Heifetz of being cold or shallow or both, completely untrue in this listener’s humble opinion. His playing here is warm, deeply felt, and expansive in gesture and spirit – one of his very finest performances.

This is exalted playing by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the violin will find much to savor here.
There are insightful liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Robert A. Hague, printed in English only. The striking cover photo is credited to Karsh.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There are promo stamps to the rear panel, but that is all. Otherwise, the album appears as new – a stunningly fine collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
