Herb Alpert 12” Single “Rotation” and “Angelina”
In 1979 Herb Alpert returned to recording in a style unlike much of his earlier work. The result of that session, an album titled “Rise” was at the vanguard of pop recordings. It was recorded at the dawn of the digital age. It was one of the first successful digital recordings. The title track became a gold-certified hit, as did the album.
With the success of “Rise”, a special 12” version of his followup single, “Rotation” was released. This version (Selection Number SP-12032), available here, was pressed on clear vinyl and contains an extended and remixed version of “Rotation”. The B-side is “Angelina”. This record has not been played. This 12” dance record has been in my collection for 40 years.
