Description
Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass released their eleventh studio album, Christmas Album, in late 1968 on A&M Records (Catalog No. SP-4166). Known for their signature "mariachi-brass" pop and easy-listening style, Alpert and the group infused traditional holiday standards with bright, Latin-influenced arrangements.
This specific US stereo pressing features the iconic front-cover photography by Guy Webster showing Alpert dressed as Santa Claus, which originally wrapped continuously around to the back gatefold sleeve design. The audio was engineered by Larry Levine at A&M Studios and Gold Star Studios, with vocal and string arrangements orchestrated by Shorty Rogers.
The tracklist includes festive instrumental and vocal interpretations such as "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle Bells," "My Favorite Things," and "Sleigh Ride". Runout matrix stamps and pressing variants for this release include distinct plant identifiers from Columbia pressing plants like Pitman or Terre Haute.
