Description

Early-2000s unofficial club 12" issued as Herbal Essence 001 on Smokin’ Beats, pairing “All Eyes On Me” with two Aaliyah-side mixes: “Aaliyah Vocal” and “Aaliyah Dub.” The A-side works as a hip-house / club remake of Monica’s “All Eyez On Me,” while the flip reworks Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody?” into vocal-house and dub form. Discogs documents this exact release as Herbal Essence 001, an unofficial 2002 12" with those Monica and Aaliyah remix connections.

This copy has a very strong New York club-vinyl detail: the flip-side label retains its original Dance Tracks New York shop sticker, marked “Dance Tracks New York,” “(212) 268-TRAX,” and original $7.49 pricing. Dance Tracks was a known East Village dance-music record shop connected to NYC’s house and club-record ecosystem, so the sticker gives this copy real period flavor and better provenance than a plain anonymous bootleg 12".

The whole object looks right for the era: black die-cut DJ sleeve, bright yellow Smokin’ Beats label, weed-leaf graphic on the flip, no artist credit, and a track list built for club utility. The Aaliyah side is the search hook, but the Dance Tracks sticker is the copy-specific detail that makes this one feel like it came straight out of a New York DJ crate.

Audio grade: NM-. Record shows light handling under bright light. Black generic die-cut sleeve has heavy rub, ring wear, creasing, edge wear, and corner wear, consistent with an underground DJ 12" that saw real shop and crate life.

Also, I do not have the ability to professionally clean records and give one static brush before ONE sampling, then back into the sleeve and jacket.
