Description

PRESSING IDENTIFICATION ----- - Blue Note BLP 4195, MONO - Both labels: BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC - NEW YORK USA - VAN GELDER stamp in deadwax, both sides - Hand-etched matrix: BNLP-4195-A / BNLP-4195-B - No Plastylite ear - this is the 1966 pressing made just   after the Liberty transition, using leftover New York USA   labels and the ORIGINAL Van Gelder metal parts. Same   cut as the 1965 first pressing. - Jacket: 43 West 61st St address on back
THE MUSIC ----- Hancock's masterpiece and one of the defining Blue Note sessions of the 1960s. Freddie Hubbard, George Coleman, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams. Maiden Voyage, Dolphin Dance, The Eye of the Hurricane - all here, all from the original Van Gelder cut.
CONDITION ----- VINYL: Very Good Plus (VG+), graded visually - not play tested. Glossy surfaces with scattered light hairlines and sleeve scuffs visible under strong raking light, including a patch of light scuffing near the outer edge of Side 2. No feelable marks found. Labels are clean and bright on both sides. From a carefully kept collection - prior owner purchased from Disk Union Japan and graded conservatively.
JACKET: Very Good (VG), disclosed in full: lamination split with paper chipping/loss along a section of the TOP SEAM, plus wear at the top right corner. Previous owner's name on back cover has been blacked out with marker. Scattered light foxing/staining spots on the back panel. Corner wear consistent with age. Front cover color is strong and displays well. Spine fully legible.
