Electronic Soundtrack from The Andromeda Strain
Hexagon shaped record with silver foil cover
Only 10,000 pressed in 1971
The director of the movie requested that the record be pressed in a hexagonal shape like the germ from outer space named in the title of the film. However, per the warning label on the inner plastic sleeve, the shape doesn't play well and can ruin needles. The album contains an excellent score by Gil Melle, a true pioneer in electronic music.

You can listen to the music without damaging your needles & keep your octagon LP in it's fabulous condition! Included in this auction is the regular round version of this album with a cover that shows some wear but the album is in very good condtion! There is one shallow surface scratch which was difficult to photograph because it is so shallow. I highlighted it in the last picture.
The cover of the hexagon features a circle of folding petals emulating a camera's shutter. The inside of the petals contain black white stills from the film. Few of these albums remain with all the petals and this one is in better condition than others I have seen! The disk is in beautiful condition and looks as if it was never played.
I know very little about rating record condition and won't attempt to guess. In order for you to make an educated assessment of this item, I have included pictures of:
-The front back of the album which was still in it's original protective cover
-The inside of the petals which include photos from the film
-The outside of each petal
-Both sides of the cover of the regular LP
-A highlighted section of the round LP illustrating the small scratch
Now that I've completed the listing, I'm going to wrap the album(s) in tissue and foam wrap and place them in a sturdy mailer. Unless I've missed some important detail in the photos, the next time it will be opened will be when it arrives at it's new home. In this way, you can be assured that these items will arrive in the exact condition as pictured.
