Description
-The Hi-Fives were a rip-your-ears-off garage rock blues group formed in Vancouver in 1961 and disbanded in 1966.
-Members; Harry Walker (vocals), Tab Shori (lead guitar), Bill Papuc (bass), Larry Krachin (drums) and Freddy Carotenuto (saxophone)
-The Hi-Fives released the ultra-rare "Mean Old Woman" on London 17200 in 1961.Earlier in the year, they released another great garage rocker; "Fujikami The Warrior" on Hitt 003. Although both records have been released on various L.P. and C.D. compilations, the original 45's still appear on many a collector's want list and are particularily difficult to find in M- condition as both 45's were great party records and usually played to death !
--Mean Old Woman is a primitive rocker written by the boys in the band with a great saxophone solo from Freddy Carotenuto.
-Cold Wind is a blues number sung with a lot of soul by Harry Walker , there is an awesome sax solo from Freddy and bluesy guitar work from Tab Shori. A Knock-out package.
-We bought this record from Vancouver Rock 'n' Hall Of Fame DJ Red Robinson a few years back when he was thinning out his collection. Comes with the original factory sleeve.
-The labels are M- but side two (Cold Wind) has residue were a sticker was removed. The vinyl on both sides is M-; probably saw a few plays on Red Robinson's radio show back in 1961, we recorded both sides to C.D. and that's about it.
