Hip Hop TRIPLE Shot AFROMAN, SIR MIX-A-LOT, and P.M. DAWN 12" Maxi-Singles

Hip hop music began in the early 70s, but it wasn't until the 80s and 90s that it became both successful and universal. Hip hop started to get played on the radio and on MTV in the 80s, and that type of music saw its share of stars. One such hip hop star, Sir Mix-a-Lot, started in the 80s with singles like "Square Dance Rap" and "Posse on Broadway". By 1988, Sir Mix-a-Lot released his debut album, called 'Swass'. 'Swass' featured, as one of the singles, a track called "Iron Man". It's not a remake of the Ozzy and Black Sabbath song, but it DOES sample some of it! This also features the metal band Metal Church playing on this track.

In 1989, Sir Mix-a-Lot released his second album, titled 'Seminar', featuring a track titled "I'll Roll You Up". That same year, Mix-a-Lot released a double 12" record, with BOTH singles on it! He even labels one side A, and the other side 1. (Get it? No side 2 or B side!) There's "Iron Man" and three mixes of that bangin' song, and "I'll Roll You Up" is on here, too; with two mixes!

In 2000, a hip hop rapper named Afroman released an album titled 'Because I Got High'. On that album was the title track, which with a little help from Howard Stern, became a really big hit! Though Afroman never saw that kind of success again, he's still around, and stil occasionally performs. In late 2022, Afroman announced that he's running for president of the United States! (On the marijuana reform and legalization ticket, no doubt!)

Hip hop stars of a more mellow style is a band called P.M. Dawn. They started in the late 80s, and consisted of the Cordes brothers Attrell (Prince Be) and Jarrett (Eternal). They released their first album in 1991. Their cousin Doc G. took over the band after Prince Be passed away in 2916, and Eternal left the group. Doc G. then recruited hip hop star K-R.O.K. to join, before permanently disbanding in the early 2000s. (RIP Prince Be. You were an awesome and talented musician, and helped make some really great music. You are missed.)

Sir Mix-a-Lot is represented here today with the double 12" of "Iron Man", and "I'll Roll You Up". The vinyl itself looks fantastic, and is still shiny and clean! Jacket also looks great. The 12" for Afroman has THREE mixes of that awesome (and funny) song "Because I Got High", as well as TWO extra tracks! The vinyl for Afroman looks great, and is shiny and clean, too. This comes in a plain, black die-cut sleeve, with hype sticker. Sleeve has a little shelf-wear on it, but nothing too bad. And last, the vinyl for P.M. Dawn looks as good as the other two records, and this 12", for the song "Sometimes I Miss You So Much", contains SIX mixes of that great song! The jacket is also in awesome condition, with only a little shelf-wear on it, and it comes with a hype sticker.

Grab these three great examples of hip hop songs, from three different decades (80s, 90s, and 2000s). Each track is a great representation of that era, and each record has remixes! Hip hop is an important part of American culture, and some hip hop songs are on the soundtrack of our lives!
