The Holly Cole Trio

•  Temptation  •

Holly Cole with Aaron Davis (piano) and David Pilch (bass & percussion)

Very rare original first pressing on 180g vinyl, NOT the much more common 200g reissue.  Whether you are a completist, a first-pressing collector or seeking the best sound quality (or all of the above), this is a top condition example.  Originally issued in limited quantities, this 180g issue has not been available for many years.

Classic Records / Metro Blue original first 33.3rpm vinyl pressing, 180g (see notes below),

on original black vinyl, Label number JP5003

Still Sealed

Mastered by Doug Sax from original master tape for Classic Records

This is the original 33-1/3rd rpm Classic Records 180g double LP, NOT the later 200g version and NOT the much later 8-disc box set at 45rpm on “Clarity Vinyl” that Classic Records had so many quality control issues with.  Reviews report excessive sibilance and noisy vinyl on the 45rpm set.  The 200g editions are prone to warping, which was an ongoing problem from the introduction of 200g LPs at Classic Records until they went out of business.

180g vs. 200g

Classic Records did not use “180g” stickers on their original 180g pressings (or any sticker, for that matter), the “200g Quiex S-VP Super Vinyl Profile” sticker was only introduced later, to call attention to the “new and improved” 200g pressings, which unfortunately turned out to have a lot of quality control problems, mostly warping.  This 180g original version was ordered from Red Trumpet on 9-25-01.

Album Cover: Sealed

(Near Mint) No seam-splits, no ring-wear, straight corners, no edge wear.  A collector-quality example of this great Holly Cole album.  Note the old “Red Trumpet” (former online music store, a.k.a. Q-Vinyl in the 1990s) store sticker on the back, the sticker is on the outer plastic bag-cover, NOT on the album cover itself.

An outstanding example of the rarely seen original first pressing on 180g vinyl, still sealed.

Packaging:

The sealed album will be placed inside another clear poly outer protective album cover, then sandwiched between two cardboard stiffener pads (cut larger than album-size) which are then carefully taped together.  The larger cardboard reinforcement pads help to prevent corner dings, and securing the album between two cardboard reinforcement pads also helps to prevent seam splits to the cover of sealed records during transit.  I have used this method for many years to practically eliminate seam splits on sealed LPs.

The album is then packaged in a thick record LP mailer box with room for more cardboard stiffeners and bubble-wrap, then sealed all around.  I know what it is like to receive poorly packaged records, you will not have that experience with me!

Return Details:  This is a factory sealed record LP, long out of print and not replaceable. Like any sealed record LP, it cannot be guaranteed against defects of any kind once opened, so this item can only be sold “as is”, for which eBay provides the 'No Return' policy in effect for this listing.  However, when you receive a sealed album, if it is "significantly not as described" (eBay's term), eBay’s Buyer Protection may allow you to return it in still sealed, unopened condition within 14 days, in which case please contact me for further information.  Please be aware of eBay's Policy regarding sealed "Music" items, see http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/return-item-condition.html for details.

International Buyers – Shipping Options:

International shipping options are listed above (see Shipping and Payments tab), shipping cost is automatically calculated by eBay shipping calculator.  I do not use the new eBay GSP (Global Shipping Program).

International Buyers – Customs Fees:

Please be aware that your country may charge you Import Duties, Taxes or other Fees at the time of Delivery which are NOT included in the Item price or shipping.  Any such Import charges are the Buyer’s responsibility.  Please check with your country’s Customs Office to determine any additional Fees before bidding.

Weight Limit of 4 Lbs. for International First Class Mail:  Please note that First Class International Mail has a 4 Lb. weight limit.  If you make multiple purchases and the combined weight is over the 4 Lb. weight limit we will have to use two separate First Class International packages or use Priority Mail International.  The shipping cost for two First Class International packages is nearly the same as one Priority Mail International package at twice the weight.  If your combined total is over 4 Lbs. then I will contact you about the shipping (one package vs. two), but the shipping cost should be basically the same.
