Description
I am selling my Holly Johnson signed print of his Europa cover. From an edition of 250,this is long sold out and rare as hens teeth.
Unfortunately there is a small amount of edge damage (hence the 99p auction) but this would not be visible in a frame. Have a good look at the photos and if you don't like the damage don't bid.
The artwork for Europa is based on an original painting from Johnson, with the title "United Kingdom After the Rain".
The title of the painting references "Europe After The Rain" by Max Ernst, which is a post war apocalyptic landscape. Johnson explained "Great Britain, with its constant rain and history of war seemed to be dissolving in a miasma of celebrity culture and reality TV: fading, dripping, national identity washed away with globalisation and European directives. As we had all watched, live by satellite, the Twin Towers crumble, the new century was threatening. Dystopian dreams come true, with no off world escape route as depicted in Ridley Scott's Bladerunner."
