Description
Here's the first of two copies of the gatefold release of Hong Kong Garden I'm able to let go, this one being the weaker of the two due to a technicality.
Released in 1978 on Polydor Records (2059 052) the initial releases came in this gatefold sleeve with the lyrics reproduced on the inside of the flap. With the silver injection inners the sharper eyed of you will already have noticed where this copy falls down and the reason I had to continue my personal search. Someone in the past has done a vinyl switch as this copy has the 'Pure Noise / Chappell' credit on the inners belonging to the repressing instead of the original's 'Copyright Control'.
The vinyl I rate as Very Good, there's the lightest surface noise on the run ins and outs and both sides play without any pops, jumps or scratches, hopefully that means a Near Mint to someone else.
The sleeve is in Very Good condition too, general edge wear from 38 years of life but nothing heavy and no seam splits. There some light ring wear but again nothing too serious so all in all a strong example of this rare sleeve so possibly a perfect opportunity to replace an older, more damaged sleeve of your own copy. It has it's own plain white inner sleeve too which is still intact and purely functional in it's purpose.
