2 LP 45 RPM AcousTech Music Matters Limited Edition # 0268
I am selling off my entire Pop, Rock and Roll, Jazz and Surf record collection that I have been collecting for over 42 years. Up for bid is a brand new Near MINT copy of The Blue Note 45RPM Reissue Series from AcousTech Music Matters series! I bought the entire series in 2014 and so this is the original edition and played once still with original plastic wrap! Warm analog sound and in Stereo!
Horace Parlan: Us Three Blue Note ST-84037 Analogue Productions STEREO: Near Mint/VG ***The only reason for the official VG grade is due to a lacquering flaw as described below. Otherwise, vinyl is super clean brand new VG+ to Near Mint played only by me once! The only other flaws would be minor superficial scuffs/hairlines from taking the record out of it's inner plastic lined sleeve. The VG physical flaw is what looks like a lacquering flaw from the factory on all 4 sides which have what looks like a light gray colored paint brush strokes of about 6" inches on each side on the outermost part of the vinyl. The width of these strokes is about 1/2". Side 1 has one of these and a couple of minor scuffs. Side 2 has only one. Side 3 has one and Side 4 has one and a visible scuff. I played it last night and this sounds absolutely fantastic and I could not discern any flaws in the sound except very minor crackling for about the first minute on the quietest passages. Looks like this is a visual defect only and does not compromise the sound. The bass on this album is FANTASTIC! Analogue Productions pressings are known for their fantastic fidelity. Limited Edition # 0268! Cover is super clean and still looks brand new with super nice gloss. Original plastic lined paper inner sleeves are in very good condition.
For 2014, Blue Note — along with Universal Music Enterprises — is launching a major 75th Anniversary Vinyl Initiative that is dedicated to the proposition that Blue Note's catalog should be readily available at a low cost — featuring high quality pressings and authentic reproductions of Blue Note's iconic packaging.
Us Three, featuring pianist Horace Parlan, bassist George Tucker and drummer Al Harewood, is one of Blue Note's greatest trio albums. The piano-bass-drums trio has long been the most compact of all jazz combos, a complete orchestra with just three pieces. Some trios have been completely dominated by its pianist including the Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum Trios. The trio on Us Three is a bit different for it features three superior jazz men who constantly play off of each other, communicating immediately and telepathically in sensitive yet funky interactions. Horace Parlan, already well known at 29 and a member of the Lou Donaldson Quartet, was perfect for the trio format in 1960. His soulful chordal style matches very well with the subtle contributions of George Tucker and Al Harewood.
There are some very memorable originals and the trio makes some superior standards sound as if they were written for them. The members of "Us Three" seem to think as one and the resulting music, which has sonics never before realized, is fantastic.
Like all Music Matters Jazz releases, this audiophile vinyl reissue is mastered from the original analog tape and pressed on 180g virgin vinyl at RTI in Camarillo, CA. The highest quality gatefold cover features original session photography on the inside.
Be on the lookout for the rest of my collection including 2 other artists that have the same flaw Arnett Cobb Sizzlin' and Hank Mobley Soul Station!
