Description
BLUE NOTE MONO VINYL FIRST PRESSING!
Up for auction is a beautiful FIRST MONO PRESSING of Horace Silver's hard bop classic, Doin' The Thing - Live at the Village Gate (Blue Note BLP 4076). All first pressing characteristics are present, as per the Discogs link below: Plastylite 'ear' P symbol and 'RVG' stamp are both present in the runout deadwax on both sides, with NEW YORK USA labels with deep groove on one side. I have fully play-tested the vinyl, so my grading is based on how the record actually sounds, as well as how it looks.
Vinyl is strictly graded in Very Good+ condition, due to 3-4 consecutive pops during track 1 and a few visible but non-feelable marks (see photo) which don't discernibly affect the audio based on my playback. Having played the album in full, it sounds nearer to Excellent apart from those few pops on track 1 - and obviously phenomenally punchy and loud throughout, being an exceptionally well-recorded live album by Rudy Van Gelder!
The laminated, dimpled cover is strictly graded in VG condition, due to a stain along the base of the back cover - this is cosmetic only with no impact on the structure of the sleeve - and a couple of small areas of laminate lift on the edge.
Inner: original Blue Note - strictly graded in VG condition due to clear tape on each side (albeit the actual paper has very little evidence of ageing).

Note that I separate the vinyl from the outer sleeve for postage to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me, and in the way I'd like to receive them.
All items are play-tested throughout, and I strive to be comprehensive and fair in grading descriptions. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to help.
