Description

Hot Memphis Bell Hops Challenge 135 Fess Williams/Duke
Here is a red hot coupling on Challenge 135, using the pseudonym of The Memphis Bell Hops, but for two different bands. Both sides were recorded in Gennett's New York studios.

The A side is by Duke Ellington's Washingtonians entitled "Animal Crackers" and recorded on June 21, 1926. A hot trumpet solo by Bubber Miley.

The B side is by Fess Williams & His Royal Flush Orchestra, "It's Breaking My Heart To Keep Away From You" with Fess doing the vocal refrain, and Jelly James on trombone. Recorded June 8, 1926.

The record is in excellent-minus (E-) condition. There is a tiny pit on the A side that ticks. It is in the original Challenge sleeve.
