Description
The six-piece KXYZ Novelty Band was based in Houston Texas, and
was actually a pick-up group heard playing at an automobile dealer's
expostion by a Victor rep, and signed to do a recording session.
On January 29, 1935 they made eight sides, recorded in "nothing
more than the living room of a tumble down house at the outskirts of
town (San Antonio)."
Despite the shoddy environment, the music was outstanding. On this
78rpm buff label Bluebird 5852, they do great renditions of "That's A
Plenty" and "Bugle Call Rag."
The record is in excellent-plus (E+) condition, however the B side has
a dime-size edge flake extending a half-inch into the grooves. It is in
the original Bluebird sleeve.
