Description

The collection of B-sides from the Howl period, originally released in a limited run in 2006 as an ‘add-on’ to Howl, and then later released on iTunes. With double sided insert.

 

Album Notes:

Recorded during the studio sessions that yielded Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s 2005 full-length Howl, this limited-edition promotional release compiles … previously unissued cuts wrought from the same folk and blues traditions as the LP proper. The songs are by no means leftovers, however, boasting a raw honesty and emotional depth as potent as anything in the band’s catalog to date. Indeed, the harrowing, strung-out music that comprises The Howl Sessions was perhaps too visceral for commercial release. Songs like the spectral “Mercy” and the gospel-inspired “Feel It Now” communicate a nakedly spiritual yearning harking back to the field hollers and dust-bowl balladry of another time. ~ by Jason Ankeny (allmusic.com)

 

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, now based in Los Angeles. BRMC is known for their garage rock, blues, folk revival, neo-psychedelia sound. They are influenced by bands such as: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Verve, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, T. Rex, The Velvet Underground and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
