Howlin' Wolf on CHESS 1497. 78rpm.  "The Wolf Is At Your Door" and

"Howlin' Wolf Boogie"   Record is in strong VG condition.  (in actuality

it looks like a solid VG+ (very high gloss with some light mostly surface

marks)  but there is one feel-able scratch on each side of the record.  neither

one is deep at all and I only noticed them upon close inspection.

the record also has two VERY small chips on the very edge of the record that

does not protrude into the dead wax at all. the record has a little extra lip?

on the outer most edge of it which makes it a bit more fragile in a way.

I have not seen this type of lip? on other label 78s.  If you are lucky enough

to win this, when you see it you will know what I mean. very minor actually

but I want to mention it.  The record has very clean labels and comes in a

generic paper sleeve)    Very Rare Blues 78.  tough one to find!

records need to be packed in order to avoid damage during shipping.

$30 for USPS International Priority Airmail (includes a tracking number)

Shipping to Canada or Mexico is $25. (same service)

All international shipping outside of the USA is by USPS Priority International Airmail.   This service comes with a tracking number so I can track overseas shipments and determine that they are delivered   properly.  Without this tracking number I can not be certain if the record is in fact delivered and received by the buyer.  Due to recent lost shipments and unfair paypal policies I must now track every individual package I send.  NO EXCEPTIONS!   Please consider this carefully before you place a bid.

I grade Near Mint, VG++, VG+, VG, and VG-

I use a system close to but slightly different from Goldmine standards.
I grade records by examining them visually under a BRIGHT

light generally.   I also play records much of the time to check

the condition as well.  And sometimes I just play a sample

of the record to get an idea.  Records play differently on different

systems  though and the buyer should keep this in mind.

Near Mint  -    Record shows virtually no signs of use or play, or very, very little, and still has a “like new” gloss to it.  Flawless or very close to it!

VG++             Record has some very minor surface
marks preventing it from being NM.  Record shows signs that it has been played, but has not been played a lot, and has been well taken care of.

VG+               Record has some surface marks, and shows signs that it has been played, but is still in relatively good condition.  Some surface marks are visible, but there are no scratches that can be felt, and record should still play fairly well.

VG                 Record usually shows many surface marks and perhaps some small
scratches that can be felt. Record usually shows a loss of luster.  Record has been stored without a sleeve and has generally not been handled very carefully. VG records generally play with compromised sound but not always.

VG-               Record has practically none of its original luster
and has surface marks and scratches throughout
its playing area.

Many 45 rpm records fall into the VG and VG+ categories. Many 45 rpm records are stored without paper sleeves and this prevents many 45s from being in VG++
and Near Mint conditions. LP records can generally be found in better condition
due to the fact that the cover protects the records better generally. Most LP
covers, without the shrink wrap on them, fall into the VG+ and VG categories generally but not always.

Accurately describing the condition of a record is the most crucial element in selling records. I strive to grade in a very strict and consistent manner.
I generally do not list records that grade low or lower then VG- condition unless they are collectible records. Sometimes many different factors need to be regarded when grading records, and the list above can you give you a fairly good idea as to how a grade, but in many ways it only serves as a general guideline.

I pack records very well yet sometimes, but luckily very rarely, records do get broken and damaged at the post office.  Please consider adding insurance to your order just in case.  I will not be responsible for records that are damaged by the United States Postal system.
