Description

  • Hard to find early 1960s Chess 1469 black and silver label monaural original self titled LP “Howlin’ Wolf” (Chess 1469, US pressing).
  • This essential blues album is sometimes called the “Rocking Chair” LP.
  • This great LP compiles 12 of Howlin’ Wolf’s greatest 50s and early 60s tracks: Shake For Me/The Red Rooster/You’ll Be Mine/Who’s Been Talkin’/Wang Dang Doodle/Little Baby/Spoonful/Going Down Slow/Down In The Bottom/Back Door Man/Howlin’ For My Baby/Tell Me.
  • The LP retains much of the original gloss with a number of sleeve scuffs and other superficial marks but no major scratches are noted. It plays crisp and clear however you should expect surface noise and some ticks and pops. None of it is overwhelming but if this will bother you please do not bid. The labels show some spindle marks. The cover has no splits, tears or cutouts. There is some light ring wear on the front and some wear on the bottom seam but the spine is near mint with the printing clear. The back shows some aging and wear but the liner notes and graphics are perfectly clear. Also on the back there is a name written in ink and a small discoloration where the price tag was removed.
  • This is a collectible but not perfect copy but I want it to go to blues collector so I have not placed a reserve and have made the starting bid at $9.99.
  • I ship worldwide and will combine winning bids to save on postage (check out my other items!).
  • In the US, the winning bidder pays choice of media mail ($4.00) or priority shipping (based on ZIP code). Airmail to Canada is $8.50. All other locations outside the US are $15.50 (airmail). Good luck
