Description
Please see other listings for some inexpensive good jazz and some very rare good jazz records also.
1962, Front cover is nice, seams are intact but bottom seam is showing shelf wear, top seam is showing lighter shelf wear, back is showing some age in loss of brightness of white, DJ's name is written in Green Marker top right back cover, check mark in pen by Wang dang doodle. The vinyl has not been played much at all but the record was in the cover without a sleeve and there are several scratches both sides that I could feel but wasn't sure if it was something spilled on the record or scratches so I cleaned it, it is scratches that look like a splatter, that's the bad news, the good news is this is a nice deep track and I have played both sides finding NM quality sound and what a sound; if you haven't heard this Chess album you're in for a treat, great bass, someone is playing Lucille's sister and from the picture on the back cover I would guess it is Howlin Wolf himself. Songs: Shake for me; The Red Rooster; You'll be mine; Who's been talkin; Wang-dang-doodle; Little Baby; Spoonful; Going Down Slow; Down in the bottom; Back Door Man; Howlin for my baby; Tell me.
As to the minimum bid here is how I arrived at it: It has a nice cover for this album; it has a vg+ value of $300.00 but plays NM but the visible scratches are a scarry even though I can see it hasn't been played much, it is a white label deep track and wow, how it plays, turn it up cause it sounds live. Would make an awesome CD and you wouldn't be able to tell it came from vinyl, if this was mine, would I want to sell it? No! No, because I would have to buy a NM copy to find one that plays as well and it likely wouldn't be an original or white label.
I'm selling these records for a friend, I have been collecting records for quite a few years and have over 3,000 of my own so I can tell you without reservation that many of the records I am selling now are very rare, hard to find in decent shape if at all. I grade very critically as if for my own purchase because I hate white noise, even if it is a rare record I want it to play well. I love going through DJ records because you never know what you're going to find; here in a jazz DJ's collection are a few of the best blues artists and a first issue, first album Dylan.
These records are selling at the price the auction brings; hopefully the more records I list, the more viewers there will be with interest and I am listing most at 99 cents or 9.99; there will be a few exceptions and those will be the records I'm willing to buy myself if there are no bids higher than the listing price and if I bid a little low it's because I like more than one.
See additional listings for the next few weeks; a mid fifties to sixties jazz DJ's collection; 600 plus albums and 3 to 4 hundred 45s will be listed. 1st listing will be a sampler of what is in the collection but there will be a cool surprise or two or three such as a Green Light 0001 Ventura's Heart of Love.
