Up for bids is this very rare Dutch pressing of Howlin Wolf's first lp "Moanin' in the Moonlight" on the Chess International label from 1964/1965. It's been in my personal collection for many years and I only part with it after a recent upgrade on the cover. In 1964/1965 the Dutch recordcompany Artone released a lot of Chess albums by Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter and other Blues giants, including "Moanin' in the Moonlight". None of these sold well and mint copies (especially the Howlin Wolf releases) are now very sought after. Have a look at Popsike, to see what I mean!
This copy is in very nice condition. The record has a few very light scratches, lots of gloss. I grade it Ex or VG++. Great sound! Plays loud and clear! The label has a bit of spindle wear on one side. The original 40 year old outside plastic cover is a bit dull and has an original price sticker still attached to it. The inside paper cover has some ring wear, some fraying and creases at the front right side and some yellowing at the back cover. Please see photos!
