Huge auction of 500 vinyl dance club records

This particular group of records has been selected from a very large vinyl library of several thousand records. This collection was accumulated as a member of a dance pool for an urban club, but unfortunately, my specialty as a DJ means that I am moving into harder forms of music such as progressive house/techno (a better idea of the genres that I am keeping can be seen at www.djbolivia.ca). I am therefore categorizing and rearranging most of this collection to focus on keeping the house, progressive/tribal house, and deep house music that constitutes the preferred part of my collection, and I am auctioning off duplicates and other genres.

As mentioned, I have been a member of a regional dance record pool for over a decade, and so there are some records that are simply being discarded (in the garbage) after wear and tear in the club. However, there are also other records which I am setting aside (originally overlooked) which are in very good, excellent, or unplayed condition. It is some of these particular records, which are in good shape, that I am moving out of my core library and auctioning off. However, I do not have the time to break the records into small lots and list them individually, so instead I am going to list them in a couple large groups. NOTE: I have already sold four large lots like this (1900 records), and this will be the last large group for sale for quite some time.

All records are in their original sleeves - many also have a label sticker in the upper left hand corner to identify artist and track. All records are very, very playable. As mentioned, many have been played only once in their entire lives, and are doubles or under-utilized tracks from the existing collection, or simply do not fit my preferred style.

The records in this collectionwould be an excellent find for a DJ looking for lost gems. Also, this would be a great way for a secondhand record dealer to get an excellent addition to inventory with a minimum of effort.



Lot of FIVE HUNDRED LP's/ Records - Great Collection Builder for a New or Up-and-Coming DJ

This picture shows one wall of my studio, covered with records. The auction consists of 500 of these records.

Please note that I am NOT going to list all 500 records, nor am I going to provide a list of the exact 500 artists and tracks for anyone making email inquiries. I picked 500 records out of my [old club] collection at random, and checked to make sure all appear to be in very good shape. Those 500 records are the pieces which are being sold in this particular auction. In a similar but smaller auction of 100 titles that was just sold in early December, the group of vinyl that I grabbed included tracks by the Stereo MC's, South Central, Zhane, Meat Beat Manifesto, Ziggy Marley, Miranda, Moby, Groove Armada, Delerium, U2, Kenny G, Kim Lukas, Kim Wilde, Temperance, Terance Trent Darby, Jody Watley, Jodeci, and dozens more. This bigger group will not necessarily include tracks by each of those artists, but at least you will now have an idea of the type of variety that can be found within this collection. Your lot of 500 records will include a mix of records from 1994 to 2002, and will consist of mostly dance, pop, hip hop/rap, house, and top 40, with possibly some other genres included. I have tried to ensure that there are NO duplicate records in your set of 500 records. I have also tried to maximize variety by ensuring that there are no more than three pieces of vinyl by any one particular artist or group in this entire auction.

If you were to buy only a couple dozen brand new 12" records in a record store, they would probably cost you several hundred dollars. Why settle for a couple dozen new tracks when you could buy FIVE HUNDRED "new to you" tracks?

As you can see from this sample, these records are in very good surface condition. In this particular photo, you can note the very clear record surface of a random record from my collection, as indicated by the reflection of the sleeves of the stack of records and the flourescent lights reflecting from the ceiling.
