Ralph Hunter Choir – THE WILD WILD WEST –
Rca LSP-1968 – BD 1s/1s –
SUPERB! - TAS
This 1959 stereo release of the Ralph Hunter Choir singing Wild West tunes is something else again.
Legendary, in fact, it was captured in Webster Hall, NYC, on November 7, 10 and 14, in 1958, by Bob Simpson, who didn’t miss an audio nuance.
The sounds of the massed voices, the hall, the reverb time, the small ensemble backup…all of it sounds, to these ears anyway, as if you are actually attending the event. (That’s Tony Mottola on guitar, by the way.)
Fact is, the first stamper of this, if you can find one, has a raw “alive” nature to it, that is visceral, the very hair on your arms standing up, as you “see” these people singing in front of you, in this hall that has entirely replaced your listening room.
Quite an audiophile experience, and, yes, all yours, since this indeed is a first stamper in the offering:
Cover of this copy is without fault, just has the original price sticker on back. Inside, is a legendary first stamper, in near mint shape, just waiting for a stylus to deliver.
Among the very finest Living Stereo releases, bar none.
