Description
Ben Dover, Inc. does it again with this Hyper-Rare, Killer Arizona Doo Wop platter by LES CHIMES (aka La Chords) titled "Time Out For Love" (Les Chimes) b/w "Willie Did The Cha Cha" (Johnny Otis) on Gay #628 A/B. Recorded in a radio studio in Germany in 1959 when the group was there in the service. When they returned to Phoenix the following year they made a deal with dairy man Carl Hightower to release it on his Gay Records imprint. They soon changed their name to the La Chords and then released the better known "To Be." Visually the vinyl is VG with surface wear and scuffs. Lots of shine left in the groove. The labels are VG (+) with some rubs and scuffs. This one is so rare that it is not listed in Kreiter's Guide!! Not on Popsike!! John Tefteller has never even seen a copy!! LOL Only 4 or 5 known copies have surfaced over the years. LISTEN to both sides above, from the actual record you are bidding on. There is one audible "pop" half way through "Willie," otherwise plays fine with some light surface noise. (I especially enjoy the Leon Phelps like recitation on "Time Out.") Another quality Sidney J. Wakefield pressing. See scan. This is a 45 rpm record. NO RESERVE.
You can also find this song on the cool "Desert Doo Wops" CD, along with some other wonderful Arizona groups and singers you will enjoy. For sale now here on eBay.
