OZZIE NELSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA began their recording career in August, 1930 with this Brunswick release:
"I DON'T MIND WALKING IN THE RAIN" and "I STILL GET A THRILL"
CHARLIE SPIVAK (trumpet) livens up the brass section. An excellent first record for this fine band, which lasted well into the '40s. "I Don't Mind" was famously and contemporaneously recorded by Bix Beiderbecke and his Orchestra, for Victor. Nice to hear an alternate reading.
After 1945, Ozzie became the paterfamilias of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," the best-known radio and TV family in the country! And he always seemed to be permanently unemployed - his band leading was never mentioned on the show!
This original 1930 Brunswick 4897 is in lovely EE+ condition. A little schmutz around the hole on "Rain."
