Description
I am selling my complete collection of The Beatles and Beatles-related records, albums, alternate versions, and novelties.
This lot is for 3 different 45 rpm 7” single vinyl records. They are titled:
- “NOBODY I KNOW” – 1964 - by Peter and Gordon. This song was written by Lennon/McCartney of the Beatles. On Capitol Records label #5211, with Picture Sleeve. Record and sleeve are both in excellent condition.
- “I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN” – 1964 – by Peter and Gordon. This song was written by Lennon/McCartney of the Beatles. On Capitol Records label #5272, with Picture Sleeve. Record and sleeve are both in excellent condition.
- “WOMAN” – 1966 - by Peter & Gordon. This song was written by Brian Webb, aka Paul McCartney of the Beatles. On Capitol Records label #5579, with Capitol records Company sleeve. Record and sleeve are both in very good condition, with only 2 small surface scratches seen.
According to Wikipedia, "Woman" is a 1966 single written by Paul McCartney (under the pseudonym Bernard Webb) and recorded by Peter and Gordon. McCartney intended the song to test whether one of his compositions could be successful based on its own merits without being associated with the hit-making Lennon-McCartney songwriting team, which had produced dozens of hit records for the Beatles and other acts (including Peter and Gordon). The duo's single did become a minor hit, reaching number 14 in the US and number 28 in the UK, but not before its author's true identity was publicly revealed.
All 3 records under the Capitol label have the orange/yellow spiral labels.
