Description
Here is either CLARENCE WILLIAMS' JUG BAND or EVA TAYLOR'S SOUTHERNAIRES in their great 1933 rendition of "I LIKE TO GO BACK IN THE EVENING." This is a nearly-unique, unissued test pressing, possibly ARC matrix TO-1301, in their "Test Only" series. No numbers appear in the dead wax.
It's a corker of a band, with ALBERT NICHOLAS (clarinet) WILLIE "THE LION" SMITH (piano), JIMMY McLIN (guitar), CLARENCE WILLIAMS (jug, vocal), WILLIE WILLIAMS (washboard), and "The Queen of the Moaners," EVA TAYLOR on vocal.
This vinyl pressing of a 1933 Brunswick TO-series master is in splendid E+ condition - EXCEPT for some brief, deep damage in the middle of the groove (see photo). It's loud, but it tracks. Sorry about that!

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!
