Ian Carr Nucleus 'Elastic Rock' 1970 UK original vinyl on the Vertigo label, catalogue number 6360 008 (stereo)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side A: 6360008 1Y//2 v420 1 1 5 Side B: 6360008 2Y//1 v420 1 1 3
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. Side A and Side B have many light surface lines which brush across their surfaces. On Side A there is one more noticeable line which crosses the tracks, but I cannot feel it. On Side B there are four more noticeable scratches but again I cannot feel them. On both sides there are also some small scuffs but, I repeat, I cannot feel any of these marks or lines on either side. On the start of Side A when I first played it, about one minute in, I heard a momentary skip, when I played it again it didn't happen (maybe some dust was dislodged) but there could be a tiny mark. Apart from this, and occasional light crackle, Side A gives very pleasing audio with excellent sound quality. Side B is the same in terms of great sound quality but about half way through, in a very quiet section, there are noticeable ticks for about a minute. This record has not been over-played in it's life and, with the exception of the points noted, the sound quality is excellent; and apart from the possible mini skip at the start of the A Side, the record plays all the way through both sides, no skips, no sticks, no jumps.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have a fair number of spindle lines around the centre, but they are very clean, no writing, no damage.
The cover is a gatefold with a single sheet at the front and a sleeve at the back, it does not have any laminate or coating. This cover has had a fairly hard life, although it's still complete and in reasonable shape. As you can see, part of the surface around the cut-out piece in the front has been scuffed off - this could easily be blacked back in. The surfaces have a small amount of scratches, rub wear and creases. The edges and corners also have quite a bit of rub wear to the point where they are feathering slightly. The centre piece is excellent - nothing really negative to report.
The spine has lots of end wear and scuffs. The word 'Vertigo' is still readable, as is the catalogue number but half of the group name is gone and I can't see the title at all.
The inner sleeve is the original full swirl, poly-lined which has some creasing and staining and a small sticker with a number stamped on it neatly in the back right top corner. It is fully intact, no seam splits, no tears.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say the cover is between 'good' and 'very good', and the record is 'very good', with the audio being mainly 'very good+'
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
