IDRIS MUHAMMAD – Black Rhythm Revolution! (1971) Prestige-10005 – EX/M- (cover/vinyl) VAN GELDER STAMP
A monster funk-jazz session with New Orleans drummer Idris Muhammad joined by Virgil Jones, Clarence Thomas, Melvin Sparks, Harold Mabern, Jimmy Lewis and Buddy Caldwell. This is totally killer with five great tracks – “Express Yourself,” “Soulful Drums,” “Super Bad,” “Wander,” and “By the Red Sea.” An essential album for the funk-jazz collector.
This is a beautiful copy. The cover is bright and tight with no seam splits – only a slightly bent corner at lower left (barely noticeable) and a small name written on the back cover. The original purple label vinyl is super clean and glossy and looks uplayed. I grade this conservatively: EX/M- (cover/vinyl).
