Description
In 2003, Elektra Records, (by way of Warner Strategic Marketing), released The Stooges' debut album on a special limited edition picture disc. The Stooges, of course, was rock's elder statesman Iggy Pop's first band (that released recorded music). They came roaring out of Detroit in the late 60s, and by the time the 70s rolled around, Iggy was on his own, experimenting with glam rock, and even working (and hanging out) with David Bowie! This was produced by the Velvet Underground's John Cale, who also produced punk priestess and poet Patti Smith's debut album.
This record was originally released in 1969. So it celebrated its FIFTIETH anniversary in 2019! The LP had a couple of minor hits with "No Fun" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog". It pretty much paved the way for countless other loud and rude bands through the years, as well as pioneering punk rock. Without MC5, Blue Cheer, and The Stooges, punk rock may not have ever been born! Lol
They made a few copies of this, then stopped. It's now out of print, and a bit hard to find. And when you CAN find it, it can go anywhere from $50 to $200! But none of that insane price gouging here! This is a NEVER PLAYED copy, complete with original die-cut sleeve, and a nice PVC clear jacket. Near mint, as it was never sealed, but it's never been played. (I never play picture discs.) Bought new, and gently handled to inspect and take pics. A great Iggy and The Stooges rare collectible to own, or give as a gift, as the gift of music is ALWAYS a good thing! And at this price, you just can't go wrong!
