Description

Founded in Accra (Ghana) in 1966 by the late Ignacio de Souza (1940-1988), the Black is a Santiago nursery education from Benin, showing number of interpreters in the country.

Alfa Jazz

Born in 1937 in Cotonou and trained in traditional music fon, Ignace de Souza up in the 1950s, Alfa Jazz, which broadcasts a mix of hilife, bolero and foxtrot. Integrating them into his training two Nigerian musicians, Zeal Onyia and Baby Face Paul, it displays a style influenced by the sound of trumpeter ET Mensah of Ghana which he repeats and copies the tubes.

Ghana

While other professional orchestras appear, those of the police and army in particular, Ignace de Souza dissolved its formation in 1955 and went to Ghana, haven for musicians. He remained there ten years, will play with the Rhythm Aces, theoretically and practically form a number of artists including Nana Ampadu the African Brothers and especially make a large contribution to the implementation of the rumba.

The Black Santiago

In 1964 in Accra, the expatriate founded the Black Santiago, training nursery, and manages the Club's Ringway Hotel, inviting renowned artists such as Fela and Geraldo Pino. The training soon aquiert fame thanks to its regional tours in Benin, Nigeria and Togo. The coming to power in Ghana, Dr. Kofi Busia in 1969, expelling thousands of non-Ghanaians in the country requires Ignace de Souza and several of its musicians to return to Cotonou in 1970. Political instability and the introduction of imported music as Congolese rumba and Latin music mark the decline of a brilliant career.
