Il Gruppo "The Private Sea Of Dreams" LP issued by RCA Victor (LPM-3846) in the United States, 1967. ****** Rec:vg+ / Cov:vg- ****** American first press version of mega-rare RCA Nuova Consonanza Italian debut LP. Much closer to free jazz than to progressive music, this ensemble from Rome is notable for the presence of well known film music composer Ennio Morricone (along with Roland Kayn, Franco Evangelisti, Egisto Macchi, Giancarlo Schiaffini and others). Their 1967 album was also issued in USA and Canada under the name Il Gruppo. Great impro LP, possibly their rockier one!Wild "out there" stuff by this very cool Italian combo. The music has lots of processed keyboards and other weird instrumentation, and as a whole is more noisy than the subtitle of the record might imply. Tracks include "Waves", "Lip Service", "Take One", and "Side One, Band Four". Wild wild stuff! Somewhere past the precipice of sound, we find these avant-garde Italians making a curious racket. The ensemble began in 1954, obviously long before the psychedelic era, and their approach was along the more atonal side of contemporary classical composition than anything resembling popular music. The mostly improvisational results here are definitely mind bending, and are sure to create a curious atmosphere in your music space as nothing here really resembles 'music' in the traditional sense of the word. We're looking more at alien soundtrack-scapes. There are plenty of seemingly random percussive and piano strokes scattered about the tracks, along with the occasional wailing horn. ****** Liner notes in English. ****** Some vinyl surface noise. ****** Little hole on sleeve. Some sleeve, spine and seems wear (see photo!)… no seams or spine split though. ****** Record plays with occasional surface noise, typical of the Tapioca pressing.
