Seldom offered for sale, Italian issue of Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki :) A strange pop concept item, written and produced by Jean Kluger and Daniel Vangarde. Desirable for being slightly bizarre, funky and also mysterious as in, who were they?!? An unusual mix of groovy pop sung by faux Japanese sounding kids with exotic funk studio group. The lyrics were mostly pseudo-Japanese, written with the help of a Japanese dictionary. Members of El Chicles - Chicken Curry & His Pop Percussion Orchestra - Chinese Fighters - The Sumos etc like Jean Sluszny from the Belgian RKM studios of Jean Kluger's brother, Roland were prime candidates for the backing band. Jean's partner in crime was Daniel Vangarde, the father of Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk infamy. Whatever, expect lots of cool quirky songs that are quite theatrical in delivery. Addictive funky arrangements with psychedelic fuzz guitars / hip hop beats / oriental scales and traditional instruments. The children's vocal chorus is super-catchy with adults from the rhythm section joining in on certain trax. Our soundclip opens with the fuzz pop of "Kono Samourai" followed by the hip hop drums of "Yama Yama" then our fave, the irresistible "Yokomo" (with lots of bugged-out percussion) followed by several other songs. Disc cut loud with big production sound. The whole Lp is indeed fabulous and definitely one for the Finders Keepers lover. FB were actually the first to give this cult Lp an inspired repress, back in 2005. Oh, and if this kind of music is your thing, do investigate the Sven Wunder - T?ryanse / Sakura 7inch on Piano Piano Records for a stunning contemporary release of oriental inspired funk with children's choir ;) Striking artwork on our Yamasuki Lp too!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
RECORD - shiny, closer to M- regardless of some faint hairlines or faint light scuffs from storage / some faint faded old pressing residue / disc cut loud with big production sound / natural light background noises / a few soft ticks in places
SLEEVE - original laminated sleeve is strong VG++ (closer to M-) with light wear / sharp looking / some wear to bottom seam at the right side corner / some ring dirt marks / a few mini dents and crease lines to laminate / some natural age discolouration
LABEL - bright looking / small promo sticker to one side / a touch of natural age discoloration / a few faint old dirt marks from storage
After a 2 year gap, Pourquoi Moi Vintage is back :)

Mp3 created via a Vestax portable with protective slipmat and basic Audacity software but records always sound much better on a proper hi-fi system ;)
