Very rare debut release for Ilhan Mimaroglu on his own Finnadar imprint, experimental electronics and electroacoustic transformations driven to the limits.
Some info on the release: Very rare debut release on Ilhan Mimaroglu's Finnadar label that consequently released records from John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Feldman, Frederic Rzewski, Doris Hays, Eric Salzman, Bulent Arel, Daria Semegen, Marcel Duchamp, Herbie Mann, Charles Ives, etc. An excellent mix of electroacoustic and electronic music tracks composed mainly in the mid-60's
?lhan Mimaro?lu is a musician and composer. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey on 11 March 1926, the son of the architect Kemalletin Mimaro?lu. He graduated from Galatasaray Lisesi (High School) in 1945 and the Ankara Law School in 1949. He went to study in New York thanks to a Rockefeller Scholarship. He studied musicology at Columbia University under Paul Henry Lang and composition under Douglas Moore.
During the 1960s he studied in the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Center under Vladimir Ussachevsky and on occasions worked with Edgard Varése and Stefan Wolpe. He is an electronic music composer, and also was the producer for Changes One (Mingus) and Federico Fellini's Satyricon. He was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in music composition in 1971. He worked as a producer for Atlantic Records and collaborated with trumpeter Freddie Hubbard on a moving anti-war statement, Sing me a Song of Songmy in the same year. Known also for his records inspired and dedicated to french painter Jean Dubuffet. His notable students include Ingram Marshall.
Mimaroglu was between the first ever to make sonic experiments together Henry Jacobs, Lejaren Hiller and of course the great Henk Badings, Morton Subotnick, David Tudor, Tom Dissevelt, Tod Dockstader, Herbert Eimert, Gottfried Michael Koenig, also the musique concrete "teachers", Pierre Henry, Pierre Schaeffer. The composer was active in a time where the art of experimentation flourished between american composers, such as Alvin Lucier, Gordon Mumma, Robert Ashley, Udo Kasemets, Roger Reynolds, Charles Amirkhanian and of course Jon Appleton, David Behrman, Ruth Anderson and Larry Austin.
Condition: Vinyl lies in excellent condition, looks very clean with no spindle marks and plays nicely all along, while cover lies in very good condition, with important damage at the opening and a stain (look picture), otherwise ok.

RECORDS ARE CLEANED ON A VPI RECORD 16.5 CLEANER MACHINE. THEY ARE VISUALLY GRADED EXCEPT IN CIRCUMSTANCES INDICATING POSSIBLE AUDIO DEFECTS.

LPs are graded visually and conservatively under bright lights.Questionable marks are play graded
SS Still Sealed
M- The record itself is in near mint condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EX+ Clean covers without ringwear or seamwear nice but not new. Vinyl will play perfect without skip
EX(+) Just slightly off from EX+
EX The cover might have slight wear and/or creasing. The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality
EX(-) At least a visual mark on the vinyl but light in nature and should play OK
EX- Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Cover may have medium overall wear or some ring wear. Vinyl has visual marks. There may be surface sound but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch
VG+ The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, seam splits , ringwear, cover wear. The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches - still plays well
