Description

Illinois Jacquet's Swing's the Thing, original 1957 Hi-Fi LP on Verve Clef Series MGV-8023. One of Jacquet's best, featuring Herb Ellis on guitar, Roy Eldridge on trumpet, and Philly Jo Jones on drums. Classic recording. And Beautiful condition. The disc looks flawless and plays nearly perfectly. A beautiful listen. The cover is almost perfect, too, except two pieces of clear tape at the top seam, one at the open edge, the other in the middle. Hard to say why they are there--it doesn't look as if they are repairing a split, but it's possible there would be a split if you removed the tape. Really it doesn't look like a split, but I don't want to remove the tape and find out. The tape is actually hard to notice! When I first bought the record a few years ago I didn't even see it at all for the first few weeks I had it! Anyhow you could probably get it off with lighter fluid and some patience. I don't want to do it because it doesn't really bother me. Anyhow it is the only thing I can describe as a flaw at all. This copy is very nearly perfect. Hard to find better. A glorious record.
