Description
THE SUNSHINE BOYS (Joe and Dan Mooney) were more than just a couple of guys who sang pretty harmonies. They were very clever arrangers, always "zigging" when you think they're gonna "zag," and they also made very good use of available jazz men - in this case, TOMMY DORSEY (trombone) and DICK McDONOUGH (guitar).
On "I'M CROONING A TUNE ABOUT JUNE," Joe and Dan recruit Dorsey to make like a prospective groom on his trombone, saying "I Do" before fainting dead away when the preacher tells him the bride's mother's moving in! Dorsey also solos for a space. "DO SOMETHING" is an unique rendition of this widely-covered tune, with fresh lyrics and unexpected key changes. Joe Mooney would go on to have an acclaimed jazz quintet, featuring himself on accordion, in the '40s.
This original 1929 "Viva-Tonal" Columbia 1834-D is in most acceptable E- condition.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!
