Imamu Amiri Baraka - It's Nation Time on Black Power, B 457-L from 1972.
Black Forum was a short lived subsidiary of Motown Records.
This is truly revolutionary stuff, no frontin' here, and is very effectively presented.
There are many great players on this record; Gary Bartz, Lonnie Liston Smith, Reggie Workman, Herbie Lewis & Idris Muhammad. Together with African drummers & choruses of both sexes, this LP moves effortlessly from gospel grooves to Free Soul Jazz, from Anger to Celebration.
Really Great, Baraka's poetic Black Power pieces strike both in the heart & right between the eyes.
Poet, playwright, critic, and novelist Amiri Baraka (born Everett LeRoi Jones) is known to the jazz community for his two books, "Blues People: Negro Music in White America," published in 1964, and "Black Music" in 1967, both as LeRoi Jones. Baraka was also identified with the New York School of poets and the Beats and was included in Donald Allen's seminal anthology "The New American Poetry."
Vinyl is VG+, surface noise is minimal when present, very light occasional crackle with one or two minor tics. Vinyl looks, I suspect, very much like it did new, no super sheen but not many surface marks or sleeve scuffs either. There are one or two minor spindle marks on the labels, which otherwise are very clean.
Cover is VG+, some corner & edge wear, ring wear is minimal & really only noticeable on the back cover. The spine seems to have probably faded from life on the shelf but it is legible & structurally sound.
